Launch Day Impressions
We were present at the event when Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra made a stunning entry in what looked like a hoverboard. An hour into the presentation came the price reveal, and it was quite a shocker. All those features for less than Rs. 10,000 for the 16GB model? Sounded too good to be true. But when we got a chance to play with the device in the demo area, we weren’t disappointed.
Testing Begins
It’s only natural to test the claims made by company executives during launch events and actually see if the phone lives up to them. That’s what we did here in our benchmarking tests, while also keeping a check on temperature. Of course, the numbers don’t mean much if the phone can’t handle real-life gaming like we expect it to. And that was also a part of our testing procedure. How did the Redmi Note 3 fair? Watch the video to find out.
Camera: Not Quite as Amazing
Blessed with a 16MP camera with Phase Detection Auto-Focus (PDAF) we were hoping for a great shooter on the Redmi Note 3. Unfortunately, even though it does quite well in regular and day-lighting, in low light it does struggle a lot. There is plenty of noise and since the shutter speed slows down, there is blurring too. The same story repeats in the video capture department too, although 4K videos look a bit sharper than the 1080p ones.
We also have uploaded photo samples as well as video samples shot in auto mode without any edits. Have a look at them yourselves.
Parting Thoughts
The battery life on the Redmi Note 3 has been stellar in our testing, but we’re still pushing it through its paces. Is there something specific that you’d like to know about it? Let us know in the comments here or on our YouTube channel. We’ll come up with the full review of the Redmi Note 3 soon and the Samsung Galaxy S7 is next. So, stay subscribed and let us know your experiences with either of the devices, if you were lucky to get one.
